✔All summer school classes including Credit Recovery (APEX) are in-person. Classes have been assigned a room number, which you can find in the student or parent portal beginning June 8th.
✔On Monday, June 15th and July 6th, Hoover staff will be on campus to help students find their classrooms.
✔Students should report to their teacher’s classroom by 8:30 am on Monday, June 15th. Be sure to bring your Chromebook (if you have one), a backpack, and any other necessary school supplies.
✔Check your teacher's Google Classroom ahead of time for any announcements. If you do not receive an invitation, don’t worry, just go directly to your classroom. Your teacher will share their class code, if needed.

✅ First Day Attendance is Mandatory! Students must be present on Monday, June 15th. If you do not attend the first day, you will be dropped from summer school. The same applies for second semester, July 6th.
📆 Students are allowed up to 3 absences. Missing more than 3 days will result in being dropped from the class and not receiving credit.
⏰ Keep in mind: One day of summer school = One week of regular school. Daily attendance is critical for earning credit.
By attending summer school, you are agreeing to follow the attendance policy and all summer school expectations.

When do I report to Hoover if I only have a one-semester class? Most students are enrolled in both semesters of summer school. However, if you only have one class, check your Student or Parent Portal to see which semester it's scheduled for:
If your class is in Semester 1, report to Hoover on June 15 and finish on July 1.
If your class is in Semester 2, report to Hoover on July 6, the first day of second semester and finish on July 21.
Always double-check your schedule in the portal to make sure
you arrive on the correct start date!
What if I need to add/drop a class? Email your grade-level counselor (see contact list at the bottom of this FAQ). Please note that counselors are off during the summer and may have delayed responses. Be sure to read their auto-reply message.
For immediate help, please go to the summer school office, Student Services, to see Mrs. Hrachik, Mrs. Rita, or Dr. Keuroghlian.

How do I email my summer school teacher? Use this format: First initial + last name @gusd.net Example: John Doe → jdoe@gusd.net
What if I need a Chromebook charger? Let your summer school teacher know.
How do I check my student Gmail account? When logged into your GUSD Chrome account, click “Gmail” in the top-right corner near your profile picture.
How many classes can I take in summer school? Students may take one course per semester (the same class meets a total of two periods a day). Teachers take attendance twice, once in the morning and again after snack.
