Counseling Advisory Committee
Did you know the Hoover Counseling team has an advisory committee that meets twice a year? We do! We had a great afternoon sharing highlights from our Mid-Year Report, end of the year projections and the impact of our program.
Our committee which is made up of students, teachers, parents, district reps, and community partners came together to share feedback, ideas, and different perspectives to help strengthen our work.
From classroom lessons and individual meetings to family engagement and college access, we’re proud to see growth in student understanding of graduation requirements, A–G, and overall college and career readiness.
As we look ahead, expanding our capacity would allow us to deepen this impact and support even more students.
Thank you to our advisory committee for your continued support. Special thanks to @glendaleusd Board President @ingridgunnell for attending and advocating for our students and program, Mr. Maghaguian from @myglendaleparks and @gusdcollegecareer

Congratulations to our GEF Student Grant Winner!
Shoutout to Arad Taherkhani, one of our outstanding junior students, for securing a $1,000 GEF Student Grant to support the Scieneers STEM Outreach Program!
“Scieneers,” is a club dedicated to providing safe, fun, and hands-on science experiences for children through their “Scieneers Explorer Kits.” These kits are thoughtfully designed and assembled by club members and shared with community partners such as the Central Glendale Library, Casa Verdugo Library, and local elementary schools including Mountain Elementary. The program focuses on expanding access to engaging, age-appropriate STEM activities, especially in communities where such opportunities may be limited.
This grant will fund materials for the kits, allowing the program to expand its reach and impact. We are incredibly proud of our students for creating this club and for their dedication to sparking curiosity and a love of science in younger students.
Pictured below are founders of the Scieneers club (from left to right) Giada Kim, Arad Tehrakhani, and Reeze Cuico.
