Need help improving your grades?
There is still time to improve your grades, but don’t wait until the end of the semester to ask for help! Improving a grade often takes a combination of getting caught up, changing study habits, asking questions, and using the academic support available to you.
A few important steps you can take now:
Check Minga and report to your assigned EO location.
Talk with your teacher early. Schedule a time outside of class to discuss what you can do to improve.
Use your AP resources. If you are taking an AP course, log in to your College Board account and use the AP Classroom resources provided for your course.
Use Khan Academy for additional practice, videos, and support.
Go to The SPOT! Free tutoring begins October 6 in the Collaboratory.
Review the flyers below for more ways to get back on track, information about The SPOT & for the dates on when the grading terms end.

Hoover HS 1st Ever Science Fair
This is the first year we’ll be running a local science fair! Our fair is designed to prepare student projects for the LACSEF (Los Angeles County Science and Engineering Fair) in March. Participants who enter the LACSEF will get a free science test A in March so that they don’t have to study while they’re preparing for the fair.
Teams can be as big as 3 students. Projects that involve biological cultures, human test subjects, and any safety chemical concern must be preapproved by an ethics board before November. If you’re interested, join the Google Classroom for the HHS Science Fair and turn on notifications so that you can join the upcoming info session to learn more.
This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in a future career in STEM. Winning the science fair looks great on a college application and is directly connected to several scholarship opportunities.
