Principal’s Message:
At Hoover we encourage all of our students to “Dream Big, Achieve More!”
I encourage all of our students to strive to do their very best everyday, build lasting relationships, and be engaged in all activities.
Hoover Way Expectations-Respectful, Responsible, and Engaged!
We believe all students should be respectful, responsible, and engaged everyday! Students are expected to be in class on time everyday and follow our cell phone and electronics policy. Violations of these policies will lead to consequences.
At Hoover, we continue to promote a College-Going Culture. Our mission is to ensure that all students graduate meeting the minimum requirements for college access. This will be accomplished through increasing access to rigorous course offerings and promoting academic engagement.
We have several upcoming college visits, including from NYU and Pepperdine, in September. All visits will be held in our College and Career Center.
Our Fall Season is in full swing! We wish our Girls Volleyball, Girls Golf, Boys Waterpolo, Football, Girls Tennis, Cross Country, PEP, and Marching Band all the best of luck throughout the season!
This past week we celebrated Art Week. At Hoover we are lucky to offer award-winning visual and performing arts. We are thankful for our dedicated staff and enjoy all of the wonderful student work that takes place.
From September 15-October 15, we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. Hoover is home to 20% of students who identify as Hispanic or Latinx. Throughout the month we celebrate the accomplishments, creativity, and successes of our Hispanic and Latinx students and all Hispanics around the world.
Attendance continues to be a focus at Hoover. Please ensure your child is at school everyday. We are also prioritizing students being in class on time and are conducting daily tardy sweeps to ensure students are in class from bell to bell.
As a reminder to all students and families, at Hoover we promote a safe and inclusive environment for all students and staff. We have no tolerance for any hate speech or hurtful language. Any students using such language will receive serious consequences.

If you have not already done so, please complete the Annual Student Information Update in the Q Parent Portal as soon as possible. The update was due August 31.
Families are required to review and update their contact information each year. This is also where families now provide household income information, which was previously collected through the Free and Reduced Lunch Application/LCFF Survey. Providing household income information may help your student qualify for:
Free AP exams – save $99 per exam
College application fee waivers – save $70+ per college
SAT/ACT fee waivers – save $60+ per test
Free or reduced-price meals
Other school benefits and discounts
Even if you believe your family may not qualify for these benefits, please complete the update and provide the requested income information. This information also helps Hoover receive important funding and resources that support our students and programs.

Seniors, don’t miss out! College Application Swarm is October 8th. College Application Season Is Here! Are you working on your university college applications and have questions or need some help? Join us for our College Application Swarm on October 8 during periods 1 and 2 in Room 3210!
Counselors and college advisors from across the district will be available to provide one-on-one support with your college and university applications.
Important: You Must RSVP!
If you would like to attend, you must complete the Google Form to RSVP. Only students who RSVP will receive a Minga sticker, which will serve as your pass to attend the College Application Swarm.
Please do not come to the event without a Minga sticker. You will only be admitted if you have one.
We encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity and get the support you need as you work toward your college goals!
This form will close on September 30 at 4 pm. You must use your student GUSD email to register for this event. The form is only available to students, click on the link below.
PSAT/NMSQT - Save the Date! Attention 10th & 11th Grade Families! The PSAT/NMSQT will be administered on October 8, 2026. Please save the date and mark your calendars!
All juniors will take the PSAT/NMSQT for free. 10th grade students will also have the opportunity to take the PSAT by purchasing the exam. Purchase information will be shared soon.
The PSAT is a great opportunity to practice for the SAT and receive valuable feedback on college-readiness skills. For juniors, the PSAT/NMSQT also provides an opportunity to qualify for National Merit Scholarship recognition.
More information about registration, testing, and preparation will be coming soon!
Register for the GUSD College and Career Fair! The GUSD College and Career Fair is on Saturday, October 10, 2026 from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM at Glendale High School! This is your opportunity to connect with dozens of college representatives in-state and out of state! This is also your opportunity to explore different college opportunities and learn what different schools have to offer! Want to pursue a trade program or military? Explore these great options at the College and Career Fair!
Connecting with college reps is crucial because they are your main point of contact for admissions questions and they will be the ones evaluating your applications! At the College and Career Fair, you will be given a barcode that colleges can scan to receive your contact information. It is important to register via Strive Fair so that you can also have access to College Rep Info. You can register at https://app.strivescan.com/registration
Important reminder for DSA students: Attendance is Mandatory for all DSA students. Please make sure you register and attend the College and Career Fair!

Support the Hoover Instrumental Music program by purchasing a meal ticket for the In-N-Out truck coming to Hoover on Wednesday, 10/7! All tickets must be purchased by Wednesday, 9/30 and are only $8 - this includes a burger, chips, and a drink! Tickets can be purchased through Ms. Campbell, and they will be selling during lunch all of next week. Cash, Zelle, or PayPal payments are accepted.
