Principal’s Message: 

At Hoover we encourage all of our students to “Dream Big, Achieve More!”

I encourage all of our students to strive to do their very best everyday, build lasting relationships, and be engaged in all activities. 

We look forward to celebrating the Class of 2026 throughout this semester! We encourage all of our students to start strong academically!

At Hoover we believe all students should be respectful, responsible, and engaged everyday! Students are expected to be in class on time everyday and follow our cell phone and electronics policy. Violations of these policies will lead to consequences.

At Hoover, we continue to promote a College-Going Culture. Our mission is to ensure that all students graduate meeting the minimum requirements for college access. This will be accomplished through increasing access to rigorous course offerings and promoting academic engagement. 

Our Winter Athletics Season is in full effect! We encourage all of our students to come out and support our Hoover Boys and Girls Basketball, Boys and Girls Soccer, Wrestling, and Girls Water Polo teams as they compete. Additionally, please continue to support our Hoover PEP and Winter Line teams!

Attendance continues to be a focus at Hoover. Please ensure your child is at school everyday. We are also prioritizing students being in class on time and are conducting daily tardy sweeps to ensure students are in class from bell to bell. 

Summer School 2026 Dates are June 15 to July 21 - Please save the summer school dates. Students who earn a D or an F at the end of the semester will have to repeat the class to ensure that they meet the A-G and high school graduation requirements. Summer School registration will begin in February-March.

As a reminder to all students and families, at Hoover we promote a safe and inclusive environment for all students and staff. We have no tolerance for any hate speech or hurtful language. Any students using such language will receive serious consequences.

Bayha Group WorkWonder - WorkWonder, offered through the Bayha Group, is a paid internship, pre-apprenticeship, and apprenticeship program designed in collaboration with high school students. Participants can continue on to work as “Co-Designers,” contributing directly to the development of the program. WorkWonder provides youth with livable wages, hands-on experience, and the opportunity to build in-demand professional skills in a supportive and respectful workplace.

Seniors, save the date. The Cash For College line-by-line FAFSA or CADAA application help is on Saturday, January 31, 2026 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in at Glendale Community College. This event is open to all 12th-grade students and families. For more details, please see the flyer below. The RSVP deadline is on January 23, 2026.

UCLA Neuroscience High School Summer Program for Rising Juniors and Seniors: UCLA is offering a free, six-week virtual Neuroscience High School Summer Program through the Mary S. Easton Center for Alzheimer’s Research and Care. This program introduces students to foundational concepts in neuroscience, with a special focus on Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. Hoover PTA is pleased to offer an opportunity for one student to serve as a student delegate to the 2026 California State PTA Legislation Conference, taking place on February 2–3, 2026, in Sacramento.

All expenses for the selected student—including travel, accommodations, and meals—will be fully covered by the Hoover PTA. To be eligible, students must be 18 years old by February 1, 2026.

This annual conference brings together PTA members from across California to advocate for children and families. Participants will engage directly with state lawmakers as they discuss their education and child-welfare priorities for the 2026 legislative session. A major focus this year will be school funding, particularly in light of ongoing uncertainties surrounding the federal budget.

The conference will also feature expert speakers addressing timely and important topics, including:

• State guidance on maintaining school and student safety during immigration enforcement actions

• The impact of climate change on children’s learning, health, and community preparedness

• California guidelines regarding childhood vaccinations

• The growing role of artificial intelligence in classrooms and how policymakers are responding

• Student perspectives on school experiences and proposed changes to make education more relevant

As a delegate, the selected student will have the opportunity to connect with PTA advocates from across the state, exchange ideas, and identify shared priorities. On Tuesday, participants will visit the State Capitol to meet with legislators and put their advocacy training into practice.
